To compete globally in the Industry 4.0 era, we need to equip students with innovative learning, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) based learning as well as the new literacies.
In line with this idea, in the early Covid-19 pandemic era, Kid Scientist Corner was started as a community to encourage Indonesian children’s interest in STEAM while attending school from home. Two years later, Kid Scientist Corner was transformed into Global Educollab to accommodate more services not only for children and parents but also for schools, universities, students, teachers/lecturers, educational personnel, and stakeholders.
With a population of 275.77 million in 2022, Indonesia has 148,743 Primary Schools, 40,597 Junior High Schools, 13.865 Senior High Scholls, and 14,078 Vocational High Scholls. Those schools serve about 90.22 million students (BPS, 2021). In addition, Indonesia also has 4,422 universities, polytechnics, colleges, and other higher education institutions.
In another hand, the use of information technology in education has increased since the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the 2021 National Survey, 77.42% of all students aged 5 to 24 use the internet for their learning.
The numbers above show us the opportunities as well as the challenges in the education sector. Let us collaborate!
